Please note that accommodations at Camp Kitchikewana are rustic but comfortable, with ~ 5 participants sharing a cabin. More information on the camp can be found here: YMCA Camp Kitchikewana.
Registration Confirmation
To accommodate our initiative to offer half-price registrations to support individuals from underrepresented communities in the conservation sector (details below under "Course Fee"), all registrations will be confirmed on Monday, February 23, 2026. You can expect to receive a follow-up email at that time confirming whether you have secured a spot in the course, along with payment details.Please refrain from making any payments until you receive this confirmation.

Course Fee
The survey course fee is $1250 + HST and covers all course materials, instruction, meals and accommodation. Participants are required to find their own transportation for the field component of the course.
To improve access to the course and to reduce carbon emissions, a group carpool website will be setup for participants.
We recognize that many groups of people face disproportionate and systemic barriers to participation in the conservation sector. To partially address barriers faced by underrepresented groups to participate in our course, including BIPOC, LGBTQ2IA+, and students, we are offering four (4) half price registrations ($625+HST) to individuals from these communities. We are actively looking into ways to further reduce barriers for underrepresented groups in future years.
Applicants interested in taking advantage of this initiative are welcome to self-identify below as part of any of the following groups: BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and/or students. You are not required to specify to which group you belong.
To ensure a fair selection process, all eligible applications received during the period of January 15, 2026 - February 12, 2026 will be entered into a draw, and four individuals will be randomly chosen to receive the discounted course price. The four randomly selected individuals will be notified on February 13, 2026. If you are not selected, you will have the option to proceed with the course at the regular price if you are still interested. In that case, your spot in the course will be reserved until February 22, 2026 so you have time to determine if you wish to proceed with the full priced registration. If we do not receive confirmation by February 23, 2026, we will open your spot to the waitlist.

Payment
Payment Deadline: April 1, 2026.
Once your spot in the course has been confirmed, you will be sent instructions to make your payment by e-transfer, cheque, or credit card.
Credit card receipts for payment will be emailed to each participant through our processing platform, Stripe. If you wish to have an e-transfer receipt please email Maureen Jackson at training@blazingstar.ca.
Payment Refunds
We can issue full refunds up to Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
From Thursday, April 2, 2026 to Wednesday, April 8, 2026, partial refunds are available in the amount of:
75% for regular-priced registrations ($1250+HST)
60% for half-priced registrations ($625+HST)
After Wednesday, April 8, 2026 refunds are no longer available as we will not be able to fill your space in the course. Paid registration may be transferred from one participant to another if all the appropriate registration information for the new participant is provided by Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
